Issue: What Causes Dog’s Snorting Spells?
Hi , I’m having a problem with my two - class - oldBeaglemix . Every now and then she starts madly licking everything . She ’ll also endeavor to wipe out gage or strings hanging off her miniature . After all this she ’ll vomits white mucous secretion .
While she ’s doing all of this she will take a hit and swallow as if she ’s got drain in her throat . This can go on for hour . I ’ve look at her to two dissimilar vets to no help . No one can seem to envision out what ’s wrong . Her lung look respectable on 10 - re , and her spunk sounds good so is it potential this could be a sinus issue ? She eat and drinks usually . When she ’s not having these episodes ( they ’ve been hap every mates of days for the past two weeks ) she ’s rocky housing usually with our other Beagle .

The huffing and swallowing really does seem like a mucous exit , but whether this is all due to big venous sinus or if your dog has an allergic reaction to something I just ca n’t say .
What I ’d like you to do is keep a notebook computer diary , score down every metre she has these incident . Then I want you to remember back and retrieve what she was doing for the last 30 minutes prior to the episode . Do this for at least two week , and it may reveal what ’s activate all the licking and take a hit . Even if it does n’t , it will beat back home the fact to your vet that these episodes are frequent and real , and they must have a reason . Hopefully this will lead to a diagnosing .
In the meantime , there is a fashion you may help her when she ’s having a snorting spell . Take hold of her and close her nostrils with your finger . This will trigger an reflex response to open up her oral cavity and salt lick , and then close it and swallow . I used to use this trick on snort Shih Tzus in the mob , and it worked rather well . Hopefully it will avail your dog too .
